Passionate about Unipreneurship

Do you feel the entrepreneurial spirit on your campus? Are startups the thing that make you crazy?
Well, there is a place to go: the ECN.

Only a small portion of the 330,000 students in Austria receive some kind of entrepreneurship education during their studies. As a result, too few of them see starting their own business or working in a startup as a career path worth thinking of. Furthermore, there is a lack of interconnection between different disciplines in the Austrian university sector, whereas interdisciplinary co-operation (e.g. tech, life sciences, business, design) is one of the key success factors of innovative business ideas.

We want to change this.

We want to inspire, encourage and support young people to start their own business and connect them across universities. This is why ECN and AustrianStartups teamed up to work on the same vision: to sustainably increase the number of startups out of universities.

Their activities are based on three pillars:

get-inspired

The ECN is organizing regular events like founder’s talks and workshops (e.g. financing a startup, legal issues of starting a business, online marketing) and provides you with useful online resources.

The ECN and SIMConnect, the official student association of the WU Master program Strategy, Innovation and Management Control (SIMC) together organize the annual event series Entrepreneurship Avenue. In the course of four workshops and a final conference day, attendees gain valuable insights into the entrepreneurial life from various startups and can experience first-hand what working on a business idea is like. Check out the conference video or this teaser.

The ECN is an initiative by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at WU Wien. ECN member universities are: Akademie der bildenden Künste, BOKU Vienna, Meduni Vienna, TU Vienna, Vetmeduni Vienna and WU Vienna.
